What Happens When You Actually Test an Anti-Aging Serum? We Did - Here's the data

At 28N, we believe in transparency, efficacy, and letting the results speak for themselves. Skincare, after all, is part ritual and part science—and we’re committed to delivering on both fronts.
We recently put our Anti-Aging Serum through its paces in a controlled, independent clinical study. The goal? To measure the visible changes in skin texture, radiance, and overall vitality over 28 days. The test was conducted by Spec-Chem Group under lab-controlled conditions (think: stable temperature and humidity, precision imaging tools, and no makeup allowed). Here’s what went down.
The Setup: A Real-World-ish Lab Trial
Fourteen women, ages 20 to 55, used our Anti-Aging Serum twice a day—once in the morning, once at night—after cleansing. Half of them used it solo, and the other half paired it with our Essence Toner, the way some of our customers already do IRL.
Measurements were taken on days 0, 7, 14, and 28 using devices like the VisioFace 1000D (for wrinkles), the Skin-Glossymeter GL 200 (for radiance), and the Mexameter MX 18 (for redness). Yes, those are real devices, and yes, they sound kind of sci-fi—but we’re here for it.
So… Does It Work?
Spoiler: Yes. The numbers are good-good. Let’s break them down.
If You’re a Minimalist: Anti-Aging Serum Alone
Even without layering, the serum delivered visible results.
- Wrinkle Volume: Down 23.39% by Day 28
- Wrinkle Depth: Down 14.29%
- Erythema (redness): Reduced by 4.36%
- Skin Gloss (aka radiance): Up 33.65%
Basically, your fine lines look finer, your skin calms down, and you get that low-key glow people pay facials for.
If You’re a Maximalist: Serum + Essence Toner
The duo performed even better when paired.
- Wrinkle Volume: Down 24.93% by Day 28
- Wrinkle Depth: Down 19.76%
- Erythema: Down a full 10.04%
- Gloss: Up 17.68%
So yes, the toner takes things up a notch—especially on soothing redness. If you’re prone to sensitivity or dullness, the combo is your power move.
Our Favorite Part? The Visuals.
Photos don’t lie. The study captured 3D images of crow’s feet and skin redness over time, and the results are the kind of subtle-but-wow transformation we all want: smoother, brighter, calmer skin that still looks like you.
Image 1: Redness Reduction (Anti-Aging Serum with Essence Toner)

This visual tracks the change in facial redness over a 28-day period for two subjects. Each row shows one subject’s progress across four time points: Day 0 (before use), Day 7, Day 14, and Day 28. Red areas indicate high levels of skin redness or inflammation, while blue and purple tones represent calmer, less inflamed skin.
- Subject 1: Starts with noticeable red clusters on Day 0. By Day 28, redness has significantly diminished, replaced mostly with cooler blue tones.
- Subject 2: Begins with a dense spread of redness, especially central in the image. There’s a marked decrease over time, with Day 28 showing far more purple-blue skin and only mild residual red.
Bottom line: These visuals show a clear reduction in erythema (redness), confirming the serum’s soothing and anti-inflammatory effects—especially when paired with the Essence Toner.
Image 2: 3D Eye Wrinkle Depth (Anti-Aging Serum with Essence Toner)

This set shows 3D surface scans of the eye area to assess wrinkle depth and volume over time. Green/yellow/red gradients indicate the severity and depth of wrinkles, with red being deepest.
- Subject 1: The red “troughs” of deep-set wrinkles in the Day 0 scan gradually recede. By Day 28, the contours are flatter, with more green (shallow) areas and less red.
- Subject 2: Similarly, deep eye lines are visibly prominent at the start. Over 28 days, the scans show smoother surfaces with reduced yellow and red zones, indicating a shallower wrinkle profile.
Bottom line: The scans provide clear visual evidence that the serum, especially when used with the toner, visibly reduces wrinkle depth and improves skin texture over time.
TL;DR
- Clinically tested over 28 days
- Visibly reduces wrinkles and redness
- Boosts glow (hello, glass skin)
- Works beautifully solo or with toner
- Feels like skincare; works like science
We love a sensorial, spa-like moment—but we also want to know our products actually do something. Now, we can confidently say: they do. And they do it well.
Next time someone asks, “Does it really work?” you’ll know the answer—and now, you’ve got the data to back it up.
